SMILE Eye Surgery in Mumbai

ADVANCED EYE CARE FOR A NEW VISION

What is SMILE Eye Surgery?

SMILE is a minimally invasive laser eye surgery designed to correct refractive errors such as myopia(nearsightedness) and astigmatism. This innovative procedure reshapes the cornea using a femtosecond laser to create and remove a small disc of tissue, known as a lenticule.

The Result? Improved vision and increased comfort with minimal recovery time.

We at Tandon Eye Hospital aim to provide you with clarity of vision, using the latest refractive surgery SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction). Our experienced team is dedicated to helping you achieve clear vision without the hassle of glasses or contact lenses.

Because your vision is our priority!

Benefits of SMILE

  • Minimally Invasive: With a tiny incision of less than 4 mm, SMILE maintains the integrity of the cornea.
  • Quick Recovery: In most cases, the patients experience an improvement in their eye conditions within days and return to their normal activities just a few days after the surgery.
  • Less Risk of Dry Eyes: SMILE causes less damage to corneal nerves than the traditional LASIK procedure, eliminating the risk of dry eye syndrome.
  • Suitable for More Patients: Suitable for patients with a stronger prescription or thinner corneas.

How is SMILE performed ?

The surgical technique of SMILE involves dissection and extraction of a refractive lenticule (lens) through a peripheral small incision of 2-3 mm width. There is no excimer laser photo-ablation or a full flap cut. As a result, SMILE could constitute a minimally invasive approach to corneal refractive surgery. It is increasingly being preferred over flap-based corneal ablative procedure (e.g. LASIK) owing to lesser adverse effect on the ocular surface and less incidence of dry eyes. Elimination of the corneal flap is associated with greater biomechanical stability and no flap-related complications.
