Diagnostic and Surgical Equipment

The hospital uses diagnostic and surgical equipment as part of ophthalmic assessment and care. The information below describes equipment currently available at the centre and its general clinical purpose. The choice of tests depends on the patient's symptoms and examination findings.

Optical Biometry Equipment at Tandon Eye Hospital

Zeiss IOLMaster 700

Swept-Source Optical Biometry
General Clinical Purpose:
Performs optical biometry to measure axial length, corneal curvature, and anterior chamber dimensions for precise intraocular lens (IOL) calculation prior to cataract surgery.
Used When:
Routine pre-operative diagnostic evaluations for patients preparing for cataract removal and lens implantation.
Availability:
Currently in clinical service at Andheri West
Oculus Pentacam HR Corneal Tomography System

Oculus Pentacam HR

High-Resolution Scheimpflug Corneal Tomography
General Clinical Purpose:
Captures rotational Scheimpflug optical cross-sections to generate comprehensive 3D elevation maps, corneal thickness profiles (pachymetry), and anterior chamber depth analysis.
Used When:
Pre-operative screening for laser refractive surgery (LASIK/PRK/SMILE), screening for irregular astigmatism, and progression monitoring of keratoconus.
Availability:
Currently in clinical service at Andheri West
Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking Equipment

Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL) System

UVA Ophthalmic Phototherapy Unit
General Clinical Purpose:
Delivers calibrated ultraviolet-A radiation in combination with photo-sensitizing riboflavin drops to create cross-links between stromal collagen fibrils, biomechanically stabilizing the cornea.
Used When:
Clinical management of progressive keratoconus and post-surgical corneal ectasia.
Availability:
Currently in clinical service
Anterior Segment Imaging Diagnostic System

Anterior Segment Ophthalmic Diagnostic Suite

Slit-Lamp Digital Documentation & Tonometry
General Clinical Purpose:
Provides biomicroscopic examination of the eyelids, cornea, conjunctiva, iris, and lens under high magnification, combined with calibrated applanation tonometry for intraocular pressure measurement.
Used When:
General ophthalmic outpatient consultations, glaucoma screening, and dry eye surface assessment.
Availability:
In active consulting suites

Clinical Verification Notice: Diagnostic technologies and surgical machines do not independently guarantee surgical outcomes or eliminate all clinical risks. Investigations are prescribed strictly based on a clinician's direct evaluation of patient indications and ocular pathology.
